Taylor Fritz beat his compatriot Frances Tiafoe to make it to this stage, but faces a very tough opponent in world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, with the Italian looking to claim his second Grand Slam title of the year following his victory at the Australian Open in January.

That exact double has already been achieved in the women's game by Aryna Sabalenka, who beat American Jessica Pegula in last night's final – lifting the trophy after a 7-5, 7-5 victory.

Reigning singles champions Novak Djokovic and Gauff, plus Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz, all fell in the early rounds.

Fans across the globe will be excited to see how the remainder of the tournament will play out given the unpredictable nature of the event so far.
