The French Open semi-finals have arrived after some particularly explosive match-ups in the previous round.

Rafael Nadal, who is going for an unprecedented 14th title at Roland-Garros, came through a titanic quarter-final against world number one Novak Djokovic, winning in four sets in a match that lasted more than four hours and only finished at 1:15am local time.

He now faces third seed Alexander Zverev on Friday for a place in the final, after the German got the better of Carlos Alcaraz.

In Friday's other semi-final, Marin Čilić, who edged a fifth set tiebreak against Andrey Rublev, will now face Casper Ruud, who had a fiery encounter with fellow Scandinavian Holger Rune.

The women's semi-finals take place on Thursday, as world No.1 and hot favourite Iga Swiatek takes on Daria Kasatkina in what will be the Russian's first senior Grand Slam semi-final.

Meanwhile, US teenager Coco Gauff goes up against the unseeded Italian Martina Trevisan.

Unfortunately for British fans, No.10 seed Cam Norrie fell in the third round meaning there are no more Brits left to follow in the tournament going into the final stages.

Dan Evans and Emma Raducanu fell at the second round hurdle, while Andy Murray decided to skip Roland-Garros to prepare for the grass court season.
