British hopes are over at this year's Canadian Open after Cameron Norrie was defeated in straight sets by young French star Arthur Fils yesterday (8 August) – but there are still plenty of great matches to get excited about in the second day of Round of 16 action.

In the women's event Elina Rybakina, Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka are among the big named looking to secure safe passage through to the quarter finals, and they'll have an added incentive after World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka crashed out against Ekaterina Alexandrova yesterday.
Meanwhile, the clash between Brazilian teenager Joao Fonseca and American No. 1 Ben Shelton is the highlight of the four matches in the men's tournament, with Jakub Mensik and Learner Tien among the others taking to the court.
Though Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic and British No.1 Emma Raducanu are among a lengthy list of absentees, the ATP and WTA 1000 event still boasts the strongest field since Wimbledon.
The elite men's players are battling it out in Montreal, while the best players in the women's game are on the hard courts of Toronto.
American Ben Shelton won his first Masters triumph at last year’s tournament, while defending women’s champion Victoria Mboko, who is out due to injury, claimed her first career title.
It's going to be a top-quality and, given the absences, competitive tournament – as excitement builds toward the fourth and final tennis major of the year – and there will be extensive coverage for UK viewers throughout.
Radio Times has the full order of play for the Canadian Open 2026, with the full tournament schedule, updated with the latest matches each and every day.
