The Three Lions face France in the World Cup third-place play-off at the Miami Stadium on Saturday evening as they look to end their tournament on a positive note.

Thomas Tuchel's defensive substitutions failed to work against Argentina as England retreated into their own half following Anthony Gordon's early goal in the second half and conceded two late goals to see their dreams of lifting the trophy die.

France were the most impressive team at the tournament before their semi-final defeat to Spain.

La Roja executed manager Luis de la Fuente's game plan to perfection to frustrate Les Bleus' attacking trio of Kylian Mbappe, Michael Olise and Ousmane Dembele.

The meeting with England marks the end of Didier Deschamps's 14-year reign as France manager, which included success at the 2018 World Cup.

France v England predictions

England's players looked knackered in the closing stages of Wednesday's defeat to Argentina and face a quick turnaround. You're likely to see a number of fringe figures feature, which could disrupt the rhythm of the match.

The Three Lions' Achilles heel all tournament has been their defence and France's plethora of attacking stars will fancy their chances. Expect Les Bleus to put on a show to send Deschamps off with a win.

Radio Times says... France 3-1 England
