It's been a horrible year for the Dingles in Emmerdale - and it just got worse in today's episode.

The drama stems from Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) discovering that youngster Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) was the arsonist responsible for setting a number of fires on Emmerdale Farm. He had a number of motivations; mostly as an act of revenge towards Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) because he'd kicked his family out of their homestead, but also due to feeling hurt that his clan seemed otherwise preoccupied by their other dramas.
Dad Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is battling prostate cancer, and with fears of upsetting his children with the developments, he was avoiding spending time with them.
Kyle was particularly hurt to see Cain choosing to help Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) move into a caravan rather than help him fix an old car that he'd been gifted. Desperate to be noticed, he set fire to the vehicle and was spotted by Graham.
In the aftermath, Graham has guided Kyle back onto the right path. He's recruited him into the local cadets, and has gifted him an expensive watch. When Joe clocked the item and mentioned it to Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick), she wondered whether Kyle had stolen it.

Expressing her concerns to Cain and his wife Moira (Natalie J Robb), it didn't take long for the truth to unravel.
Cain ordered Kyle to stay well away from Graham, saying that he had no idea of who he was, and that he was actually protecting his mum Amy's killer – Joe. Seeking revenge, the teen rushed around to Home Farm and grabbed a shotgun, aiming it at Joe. Graham and Kim Tate (Claire King) convinced him that violence wasn't the answer, and sent him home.
Kyle has remained trouble ever since, and Cain was alarmed to see that he'd set another fire in today's episode. A shed at Wishing Well Cottage was ablaze, and poor Monty the dog was trapped inside.
Cain rushed into the flames and pulled him out, and at the vets, Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) warned the family to prepare for the worst.
Guilt-ridden, Kyle tried to assure his clan that he didn't intend on setting the fire. Meanwhile, Cain headed to speak to Graham and the men seemed to find mutual ground.
Things started to look up as he joined Cain and Kyle to build a new shed, but it soon became clear that the men weren't prepared to put things behind them so easily. Kyle was saddened to see them squabbling, but far worse news soon landed on their doorstep.
Paddy returned without Monty, and said that early markers in his blood results suggested that he may have cancer.
