DS Thea Ramsden (Chelsea Edge) got the breakthrough she was desperate for in Friday's (23rd October 2026) episode of Emmerdale.

Determined to wreak revenge on her biological mother Kim Tate (Claire King) for discarding her via an illegal adoption when she was born, Thea has been watching and waiting for any opportunity to destroy her.

Close friend Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) has tried to be supportive, but urged Thea to drop her vendetta.

However, when Thea overheard Kim speaking callously about the dodgy adoption of her step-grandson Joe Tate's (Ned Porteous) as-yet unnamed baby son, she was convinced history was repeating itself.

She called in a favour from a social worker (Lindsay Fraser), who visited Home Farm and requested to see the baby.

Kim took the woman to see the child, who is currently being cared for by Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) at an out-of-the-way cottage.

Joe remains unaware that this is the case, but Kim told the social worker that they hope to reunite father and son once Joe has recovered from fiancée Dawn Fletcher's (Olivia Bromley) death.

Thea raged that her plan hadn't worked, and refused to believe that Kim hadn't sold the baby.

Keeping up the pleasantries between herself and Kim, Thea went to see her with a fake warning about poachers in the area, but Kim was called away due to a commotion caused by Joe at the stables.

Joe had thrown Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) off the land after she tried to empathise with him and apologise over her knowledge that Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) caused the fatal car crash.

Meanwhile, after quizzing a cautious Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) about baby Tate, Thea was left alone at Home Farm, where she went through Kim's phone and downloaded messages between her and Graham.

Meeting with Serena, Thea showed off her findings including an address.

When Serena refused to help her take action, Thea left to find the cottage without her.

Graham was seen watching over the little boy while on the phone to Kim, informing her about an impending delivery of innocent supplies.

But Thea suddenly appeared at the window, and it was clear by her cold stare that she thought Graham was waiting for a hefty sum of cash in exchange for Joe's son.

Belle and Kammy sat on a sofa together in a scene from Emmerdale

Will she realise just how wrong she's got it, or is Kim in for a world of trouble? We suspect the latter...

Elsewhere, after a turbulent week, there was some welcome happiness for Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).

Her boyfriend Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) blurted out that he loved her, but a spooked Belle simply replied "Thanks!"

Belle was mortified but, going over her insecurities due to a traumatic past with ex-husband Tom King (James Chase), Belle managed to overcome the faux pas.

As Kammy later apologised for his bad timing, Belle told him to stop spiralling and without even thinking, ended up saying she loved him.

We love a feel-good moment amid the usual soap chaos!
