It all kicked off in the courtroom in today's (28 July) EastEnders.

Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) has been sentenced to eight months behind bars for causing injury by drink driving. However, his sentence could've been very different had Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) arrived on time.
She initially took some responsibility for not watching over her son Jordan (Jahsaiah Williams), which caused him to run away and into the path of Ian's car. However, she later changed her stance when she learnt the extent of his injuries.
Despite his bail conditions, Ian had pleaded with Chelsea to do the right thing and speak up. She was furious and ordered him to leave, slamming the door in his face.
Her aunt Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) was in the other room and heard Ian's voice. She was about to enter defence mode, but Chelsea leapt in and confessed her guilt.

Determined to do the right thing, she called Ian and said she'd meet him in the courtroom. However, on her way, the tube was delayed.
Upon arrival in today's episode, a furious Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) slapped Chelsea across the face for turning up too late and made it clear that she was to blame for her son's imprisonment. The Beales had no option but to return home and drown their sorrows.
Chelsea and Kim also made their way to The Vic, leading to a very frosty atmosphere. Kathy was reluctant to accept their initial olive branch, but eventually they softened towards one another upon realising that they were both acting in the best interests of their children.

With a burning desire to help Ian with an appeal, Chelsea spoke to Jordan's paternal great grandmother Sheila Atkins (Sheila Ruskin) in the hope she could support financially.
Sheila was stunned to learn that Chelsea was partly to blame for what happened, and after agreeing to splash the cash on the appeal, headed to the prison to tell her grandson Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith).

He's been manipulating her for weeks, desperate to have some involvement in Jordan's life.
The story then took a seriously sinister turn. Ian was admitted into the cell block, and unknowingly strolled past Gray.
