Last month, Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) discovered that Rachel – the daughter she’d given up for adoption three decades ago – had been murdered, and that her unacquainted granddaughter Lucy Parkinson (Anya Dewin) was living metres away across the Coronation Street cobbles.

The teenager’s foster parents, Sally and Tim Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) have sworn to keep this a secret, fearing it would only cause her further distress. But, in true soap style, it now looks set to unravel.

After sharing a sorrowful exchange with an oblivious Lucy at the precinct, Christina is spooked by a video of Rachel and rushes off, dropping a photograph of her on the ground. How will she explain herself when puzzled Lucy searches for answers?

Elsewhere, Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) almost derails Adam Barlow's (Sam Robertson) plans to propose to Alya Nazir (Sair Khan), Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is troubled amid her pregnancy, and Ross Wilkes (Ian Burfield) is the driving force behind a feud between Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) and his brother-in-law Chesney Winter-Brown (Sam Aston).

Plus, outside Underworld, Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) looks to expand his Weatherfield empire...

Here's everything happening in the episodes of Coronation Street airing between Monday 26 and Friday 30 October.

8 Coronation Street spoilers for next week

1. Debbie Webster's blunder threatens Adam Barlow and Alya Nazir's engagement

Ex-con Paula (Kelli Hollis) makes a return to the Chariot Square Hotel and attempts to make amends with Debbie, apologising for her earlier behaviour. However, she's in no mood to forgive and remains decidedly frosty. But while Debbie is distracted, Paula’s attention is caught by Adam, who is busy discussing his plans to propose to Alya.

Spotting an opportunity, Paula exploits Debbie’s confusion and convinces her that she’s staying in room 108. Forgetting that Adam has booked the very same room for his romantic proposal, she hands over the key without a second thought.

Adam then leads Alya into the bedroom, ready to pop the question – only to discover that the engagement ring has mysteriously vanished. His romantic plans in tatters, Adam storms into reception and tears a strip off Debbie for ruining the surprise.

It’s then that the penny drops for Debbie, who realises with mounting horror that she’s handed her former cellmate the key to Adam’s room. But can she track Paula down before the proposal is ruined for good?

Debbie later catches up with Paula and demands that she return the missing ring. Having recovered the precious jewellery, she makes sure it gets back into the right hands, returning it to Adam who eventually gets down on one knee in the Rovers and asks his partner to marry him.

Alya happily accepts, prompting cheers all round as the couple celebrate their engagement.

2. Bethany Platt leans on Ryan Connor amid her pregnancy

Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) calls round to the Redbank Apartments and is immediately concerned by Bethany’s tired, pale appearance. She attempts to brush off his worries by claiming she’s suffering from a hangover, before rushing to the bathroom to be sick.

However, Ryan soon spots something that makes him question her explanation. Having noticed folic acid tablets in her bag, he asks her outright whether she’s pregnant.

With the secret out, Bethany admits that she’s expecting a baby following a one-night stand. Rather than judging her, he responds with kindness and reassurance, telling her that he believes she’ll make a wonderful mum.

Later in the week, when Bethany continues to struggle with nausea, Ryan takes charge and gets her home, where he prepares something for her to eat. Touched by his thoughtfulness, she appreciates having someone looking out for her, but Ryan insists that he’s simply glad to be there for her.

With so much uncertainty ahead, could Ryan’s support prove invaluable as Bethany prepares for motherhood?

3. Ross Wilkes stokes Tyrone Dobbs's anger, igniting a family feud

Ross is keen to ingratiate himself with Fiz Dobbs (Jennie McAlpine) when he turns up with flowers and offers to take Dorin Pop (Henry Meller) and the Winter-Brown quads to the park. She reluctantly agrees, but his seemingly helpful gesture could be hiding a more troublesome agenda.

Things take a turn when Tyrone discovers a bruise on Dorin and hears his claim that Aled Winter-Brown (Joseph Woods) punched him. Ross wastes little time fuelling his son's suspicions, goading him into confronting Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) over the alleged bullying.

Tyrone then announces that Dorin won’t be attending the quads’ party. But when Ross arrives, he deliberately fans the flames, provoking an explosive confrontation between the men.

Desperate to prove that he won’t be pushed around, Tyrone loses control and punches Chesney. The regret is almost immediate, but rather than encouraging him to make amends, Ross validates his actions.

With Ross seemingly determined to justify the violence, Tyrone is left in danger of being drawn further into a conflict that could have serious consequences.

As Hallowe'en celebrations get underway at the Rovers, Fiz reminds Tyrone that he owes Chesney an apology. When the Winter-Browns arrive at the party, the opportunity to put things right presents itself.

But will Tyrone swallow his pride and apologise, or will Ross’s influence continue to cloud his judgement?

4. The Jodie Ramsey mystery deepens as Brian Packham receives an unexpected delivery

Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) has a curious tale to tell Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) when he reveals that something rather strange happened overnight. Someone has slipped his missing book through the letterbox at The Kabin, leaving him completely baffled.

The unexpected return raises an obvious question: who has been responsible for returning the book, and why did they choose to do it under cover of darkness?

Of course, as we know, it was missing Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) who originally took it. Has she returned to the cobbles, or has sister Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) done the deed on her behalf?

5. Lucy Parkinson plots against Sally and Tim Metcalfe, and her connection to Christina Boyd is under threat of exposure

Sally, Tim, Lucy and a social worker have a conversation in a scene from Coronation Street

Lucy is desperate to attend a school mate, Kayla's Hallowe'en party and pleads with Sally and Tim to let her go. But when she reveals that Kayla’s parents will be away, Sally immediately puts her foot down. Tim attempts to smooth things over, reminding Lucy that his wife is only trying to protect her, but the teenager is far from happy.

Eventually, the Metcalfes persuade Lucy to accompany Joanie Michaelis (Savanna Pennington) to the Rovers’ Halloween party instead. However, there’s little time for a peaceful evening when Joanie comes across an article reporting a riot at her dad’s prison. Sally and Tim attempt to downplay the news, and the trio head off to the party.

Back at home, Sally’s evening takes a sinister turn when she hears a noise outside and spots what appears to be a ghost at the window. Fearing that Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) could be involved, given his previous escape, Sally confides in Lisa and Carla Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers and Alison King).

Lisa tries to reassure her, but Sally’s nerves are soon tested again when the landline rings twice without anyone answering. Then the power suddenly cuts out, plunging the street into darkness. As a ghostly figure appears behind her, Sally grabs a vase and strikes the intruder over the head.

But who has been lurking outside the house, and is Sally’s worst fear about to come true?

Later in the week, Sally and Tim receive an unexpected visit from social worker Ruth (Amy Drake), who reveals that Lucy has contacted her. The teen casts a triumphant look at Sally before heading out, leaving her foster parents to hear the allegations that have prompted the visit.

When a sudden power cut plunges the whole street into darkness, a ghostly figure appears behind Sally, who grabs a vase and strikes them over the head. Who is behind this?
Ruth explains that Lucy has been keeping a journal in which she describes Sally as controlling and accuses her of saying nasty things behind her back. The revelations leave the couple horrified, particularly as Lucy appears convinced that she has been mistreated. ITV

Elsewhere, Lucy confides in Christina on Maxine Peacock’s memorial bench, opening up about how she feels and revealing that the social worker is speaking to Sally. Expecting her claims to have serious consequences, Lucy heads home believing that Sally will finally be held accountable.

But Christina has concerns of her own. Worried about her granddaughter’s wellbeing, she tells partner George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) that she wants to make sure Lucy is safe. Later, an emotional Christina looks at the photograph of Rachel on her keyring and admits that she feels she failed her daughter.

In the precinct, Christina encounters Lucy, who shows her some family videos on her phone. As they watch, Christina notices something deeply disturbing in the background - Richie Parkinson (Nathan Sussex) appears to be behaving abusively towards Rachel.

Horrified by what she has seen, Christina flees, accidentally dropping her keyring as she goes. Back at the undertakers, Lucy soon arrives and demands to know why Christina has a photograph of her mum among her belongings.

Caught off guard, Christina faces some difficult questions.

Can she explain herself without revealing what she has discovered?

That night, at No. 11, Christina finally tells George about the footage and her belief that Richie was the one abusing Rachel, rather than the other way round. He's left stunned by the revelation, which threatens to turn everything they thought they knew about Rachel’s past upside down.

6. Summer Spellman vows to stand by Marco Rhodes

Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) receives heartbreaking news when Adam and Alya reveal that Marco Rhodes (Will Teasdale) has lost his case and has been sent straight from remand to prison.

Determined not to abandon him at his lowest point, Summer visits Marco and offers him her unwavering support. She insists that she’ll stand by him, promising that he’ll win his appeal and eventually regain his freedom.

Later, she meets up with Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) and Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) and makes her position clear, explaining that she intends to remain loyal to Marco despite his legal troubles.

7. Idris Nazir sets his sights on the Underworld factory

Idris shouts across a car towards Leanne, Lisa and Carla in a scene from Coronation Street

Carla wastes no time making her feelings known when she takes Idris to task over his inconsiderate parking on the street. He responds with his trademark charm, but Lisa quickly senses that Carla isn’t remotely impressed by him.

Idris soon turns his attention to business, telling Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) that with the Viaduct Bistro deal now off the table, he may look into buying the factory instead. Leanne is quick to warn him that Carla will never agree to sell, but he appears undeterred.

Meanwhile, Carla is facing some uncomfortable realities of her own. At the factory, she confides in Lisa that the latest sales figures make for grim reading. Lisa attempts to reassure her by pointing out that her salary could support them if necessary, but Carla takes the comment badly.

Later, in the Rovers, Idris overhears the pair discussing the factory’s financial woes and decides to offer his two pence. Suggesting that a rebrand could help turn things around, he clearly believes he has the answer to Carla’s problems.
She's having none of it and gives him short shrift.

Idris slinks away, leaving Lisa amused by the exchange.

8. Daniel Osbourne fights to save a patch of land

Later, Ken Barlow (William Roache), Daniel, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) and Amy join Adam and Alya to celebrate the couple's engagement. Amid the celebrations, Daniel admits that his petition has been a disaster, leaving him struggling to find a way to get people on board.

Ken offers some timely advice, suggesting that Daniel should write an article for the Weatherfield Gazette to bring the issue to a wider audience.
