Gary Windass (Mikey North) finally faced his punishment for his role in covering up Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) murder in Tuesday's (20th October 2026) Coronation Street.

Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) has just been found not guilty of the crime, with the jury ultimately believing that she killed evil Theo in self-defence.

She had called Gary on the night in question, and he moved the murder weapon to help her.

When Gary's wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) found out, she questioned whether he was still in love with Sarah, who he previously had a long relationship with.

Gary insisted he didn't love Sarah, and Maria stood by him - but his son Jake (Bobby Bradshaw) has moved out as he is so hurt by his dad's selfish actions.

With Sarah a free woman, Maria was furious to see her and Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) walking young Harry (Joshua Leavy) to school, seemingly without a care in the world.

As Maria shouted the odds, Gary ushered her away and they headed to court for his sentencing.

Meanwhile, with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) having rejected Sarah, he and Bethany shared an awkward moment as he arrived at the flat to collect his things. Kit and Bethany had a one-night-stand while Sarah was in prison, but he has no idea that Bethany is pregnant.

Bethany left to join Sarah and Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) at the Bistro, but their lunch was ruined when Maria stormed in, notably alone.

Although Sarah hadn't dropped Gary in it over moving the murder weapon, a bitter Maria announced that Gary had been handed an eight month sentence for protecting Sarah's secret.

Maria shoved cake in Sarah's face, knocking Bethany to the floor when she tried to intervene.

At the hospital, a nurse informed Bethany that she needed an x-ray on her sore arm, and asked if she could be pregnant.

In front of Sarah, Bethany admitted that yes, she is expecting a baby.

Oblivious to who the father really is, and having lovingly teased Bethany about her blossoming romance with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), Sarah was overjoyed by the news.

As Bethany squirmed over her betrayal of her mum, Maria was supported by her brother Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment), who pointed out that Gary's time behind bars would be over before she knew it.

Gary then called his wife, assuring her that he was fine and urging her to be strong.

But with Maria fearing he'll get himself into more trouble, is she right to be so worried?

And how long will it be before Sarah discovers Bethany and Kit's fling?
