Warhammer 40,000 animated series in development with Henry Cavill on board

Warhammer 40,000 is about to take over Henry Cavill's life as, not only is the actor leading a live-action series based on the tabletop game, he's also set to executive produce an animated series.

The animated series, which is envisioned as a spin-off to anthology series Secret Level, is currently in development from Amazon MGM Studios, Blur Studios, and Games Workshop, according to Variety.
The show is co-created and directed by Dave Wilson, who directed the Warhammer 40,000 episode of Secret Level, and it's set to feature, The Deathwatch, an elite group of Space Marines specialising in hunting down alien threats.
Wilson said: "Secret Level wasn’t conceived simply as an anthology. It was designed as a launchpad for larger stories.
"The response to the ‘Warhammer’ episode was extraordinary, particularly from fans who understood how much care went into getting the world right.

"This series gives us the opportunity to build on that foundation and tell a much larger story. I’ve wanted to tell a long-form story set in Warhammer 40,000 for more than twenty years, and I’m incredibly grateful to Games Workshop and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to do it."
It was recently revealed that Mike Flanagan, known for iconic horror releases including The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and the upcoming Carrie adaptation, has joined the live-action series and will begin work on scripts soon.
Secret Level premiered in December 2024, with Radio Times' Gaming Editor, Rob Leane, giving it two stars. At the time, he said that the series "slightly misses the point and misunderstands the assignment".
Here's hoping Warhammer 40,000 will fare better!
