The Time Lord (voiced by Michael Troughton) reunites with his beloved companions, Jamie McCrimmon (Frazer Hines) and Zoe Heriot (Wendy Padbury) for brand new adventures from Big Finish.
The Second Doctor Adventures continue today (4 August) with the three-episode adventure, The Haunted Windmill, which sees the Doctor on the run from the Time Lords.
The stories, written by Alan Barnes, see the Doctor, Jamie, Zoe, and their pal Raven (Emma Noakes) make a run for it in the TARDIS and arrive on Earth in 1963 - or so they think.
In fact, this is an alternate Earth, a world where the Doctor never arrived. And, as you would imagine, a world without the Doctor looks very different.

Familiar faces including Lethbridge-Stewart (Jon Culshaw) and Liz Shaw (Daisy Ashford) also rock up - and of course, our heroes are faced with some familiar foes too, including the Krotons and the Daleks (Nicholas Briggs).
Troughton, who is the son of Second Doctor actor Patrick Troughton said of the new stories: "My first reaction to these scripts was, hey, what’s going on here? But the minute you get the idea behind this alternate reality, you immediately understand what’s going on, and it’s brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
"Working with Frazer is always great fun. We have that same kind of empathy that my dad and him had. There are certain actors that you get that with. And I’ve got a real soft spot for Wendy. She’s done so much and she hasn’t changed one iota. She still has that wonderful enthusiasm, that sparkle in her eye."

Padbury added: "Alan’s written really, really good scripts. Really readable, it lifts nicely off the page. I think the concept of the story is just brilliant, and it has moments of humour, which I always love.
"I first played Zoe back in 1968, a long time ago, and being given the opportunity to come back and play Zoe is actually unexpected. As the years have gone on, my voice has dropped, but they’re writing more and more where I can play Zoe as an older woman, so it’s really lovely to be able to do that!"
Let the adventure begin!
