While Avatar: Seven Havens has been giving fans of the franchise a hit of nostalgia, it's been revealed that one of the key characters has actually been recast.

The new episodes showed flashbacks to Avatar Korra, who of course has been a big part of the franchise in previous years. However, some fans have noticed that she sounds a tad different to how they remember.

Voice actress Cia Court has now taken to social media to confirm that she's taken over the role.

"I guess the cat monkey's out of the bag!" she said. "Yes, you heard me as Korra in Avatar Seven Havens! But is she really as bad as people think she is?"

Janet Varney previously voiced Korra. She recently revealed on the Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast that she had an emotional reaction to the new series, and to seeing Korra "treated as a villain".

"I sobbed through this pilot episode. I was shattered. I cannot emphasise it enough," she said.

"I finished it, and my partner was like, 'So?' And I was like, 'I can't even tell you what happened. I'm so upset,' crying. I was like, 'I'm so worried about all the people that love Korra and already defend Korra.'

Varney added: "I had to go back and watch with fresh eyes after I had deeply grieved. I know we don't know what's going to happen, and I want people to keep the faith, but who knows? But just for me, watching children talk about her as if she's a monster was heartbreaking. I mean, it really hurt. And I'm not her, but I know what she means to some people, and it just really hurt."

However, as Court has hinted, there may very well be more to the story.

Saheli Khan as Pavi in Avatar: Seven Havens Paramount+

Seven Havens is set more than 200 years after the end of The Legend of Korra. Nine year old Pavi discovers she is the next Avatar, but in the dangerous world she lives in, this marks her as humanity's destroyer rather than saviour, and she is hunted by both human and spirit enemies.

Pavi and her long-lost twin Nisha must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens from an apocalyptic event, before it is too late.

Avatar: Seven Havens is streaming now on Paramount+.
