Jeremy Clarkson is heading back to his car roots for a one-off Prime Video special that will see him attempt what Amazon Prime Video calls a "world first": growing and building his own car from crops raised at Diddly Squat Farm.

Titled Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson's Farm Special, the standalone episode will follow on from the hit franchise that has made Clarkson one of the country's best-known farmers, and promises a change of gear for a presenter who built his career on cars.

Across his time at Diddly Squat, Clarkson has tried to grow almost everything, from wheat and barley to potatoes, mushrooms and even wasabi. The new special pushes that ambition further than ever, with Clarkson setting out to grow and build a vehicle rather than buy one.

His starting point is the Jaguar F-Type V6S, a model he regards as the sweet spot between analogue driving thrill and modern practicality. Rather than a straightforward restoration, though, the build will lean heavily on home-grown materials, including a Diddly leather interior and wool carpets.

The most ambitious element is the plan to grow a crop of flax fibre and turn it into a flax-composite, pitched as a sustainable alternative to carbon fibre that is already drawing interest from major car makers. Clarkson has previously grown flax at the farm, and the crop's potential for car parts has been a talking point around Diddly Squat.

He will not be tackling the redesign alone. The special brings in car designer Ian Callum CBE, founder of design and engineering firm CALLUM and the man who penned the original F-Type as well as the Aston Martin Vanquish. Callum's involvement is intended to give Clarkson's reimagined Jaguar the style, luxury and performance he believes the British brand should embody.

Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson's Farm Special will stream exclusively on Prime Video next year. This follows on from season 5 of Clarkson's Farm which launched earlier this year. Season 6 will launch in 2027.
