Comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett returned to host the ceremony this year, and jokes were in plentiful supply as the some of TV’s best stars descended on London’s Royal Festival Hall.

While it was certainly a close call for some of the categories, and there was a plethora of small screen talent, it was Top Boy and Happy Valley that led the charge on the night, taking home some of the biggest gongs.

In the international stakes, HBO’s Love & Death, Disney Plus's The Bear and Netflix’s Beef were just some of the series in the mix, but it was Class Act that won the accolade.

As for individual awards, the coveted prizes for Leading Actress went to Sarah Lancashire and Leading Actor to Timothy Spall.

While the Supporting Actor and Actress categories were packed full of talent, from Harris Dickinson to Amit Shah, Harriet Walter to Elizabeth Debicki, it was Matthew Macfadyen and Jasmine Jobson who were awarded on the night.

As for the only public vote on the night, the P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award, that was narrowed down to the likes of Logan Roy’s death in Succession and Bill and Frank’s Story in The Last of Us, to name a couple.

But the public voted for the Happy Valley final showdown as the memorable moment of the year, with Rhys Connah accepting the prize at the ceremony.

Elsewhere, Lorraine Kelly and Floella Benjamin were also honoured at this year’s awards, and the ceremony’s In Memoriam segment paid tribute to Friends star Matthew Perry, as well as Bernard Hill and Chance Perdomo.
