The wait for more of Sky's cult murder comedy Sweetpea is almost over, with a teaser trailer for the show's second season offering a proper glimpse of Ella Purnell's wallflower-turned-killer Rhiannon Lewis back in action.

Adapted from CJ Skuse's novel, the series follows Rhiannon, an overlooked local newspaper worker in the fictional English town of Carnsham who keeps a mental "kill list" of everyone who has wronged her.
After her father dies and her former school bully returns to town, Rhiannon snaps, commits murder and begins a dangerous double life that brings her new confidence along with growing police scrutiny.
Sky has promised that Rhiannon comes back "with a vengeance" in Sweetpea season 2 as her "killer secret continues to spiral," with some recognisable faces joining for this sharp new chapter.
Green Wing star Tamsin Greig joins as Liv, the mother of AJ, alongside Rish Shah (Overcompensating) as new romantic interest Gabriel, Taj Atwal (Riot Women) as Rhiannon's new boss Freya, and Jenny Walser (Heartstopper) as an "adoring" new friend, Daisy.

Sweetpea was renewed for a second season in December 2024, with the announcement teasing an "even more twisted" run, including the emergence of a copycat killer threatening to expose Rhiannon's crimes.
The plot synopsis reveals that she'll also be dealing with a "new promotion, an irresistible rebound" and the continued pursuit of Detective Marina (Leah Harvey), who is said to be "hot on her trail".
Purnell has previously teased in a conversation with Deadline that the second season is "bonkers", raising expectations for how far the story could push Rhiannon's homicidal streak and any other shocking twists that it might contain.
"I'm exhausted, and it was worth it," she said. "It was a really crazy season. Season 1 was quite small and tame in comparison to how bonkers this season is. There's so much in it. It's big."
Sweetpea is available to watch on Sky TV and NOW, with season 2 coming soon. You can sign up to NOW from £3.99 a month.
