Our cover star this week is a remarkable person. In her 30 years on the planet she has packed in being an actress, activist, dancer, writer, presenter and British Sign Language champion. There's probably nothing Rose Ayling-Ellis couldn't do if she turned her mind to it.

This week she's starring in the new ITV drama Code of Silence, in which her deafness and BSL play a role. She is, of course, brilliant in it.

Whether it was representing the deaf community in EastEnders or the intensely moving silent dance she performed on her way to winning Strictly, she has been using her fame to educate the hearing about how the deaf community feels about modern life and how it could be improved for them.

Read our revealing interview with this extraordinary young woman in this week's issue.

Elsewhere, Joanna Lumley and Roger Allam answer personal questions about each other in a fun version of Derek Batey's quiz show Mr & Mrs.

They star in a new series of Conversations from a Long Marriage, the Radio 4 comedy that's genuinely funny and, if you have been married for any length of time, occasionally hits a raw nerve.

Radio Times editor Shem Law wears a shirt, tie and grey jumper. He is sitting at a wooden desk behind a sign saying "Editor" clasping his hands. There are other items on the desk, including a dial telephone and typewriter.

Shem Law

Shem Law is the brand editor of Radio Times, and the 20th person to hold that esteemed position in over 100 years. He wasn't allowed a television growing up, but over the years he has rather overcompensated for that fact.
