Set deep in the dense mountains of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone follows Ern Cunningham, played by Badgley, a mystery-writing expert who reluctantly attends a family reunion to welcome his brother Michael home from prison – the same brother Ern helped convict.
When a frozen body appears and a snowstorm traps everyone inside, the deaths begin to mount. Everyone in his family has already killed someone – either by accident or otherwise.
Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone is an adaption of the 2022 book of the same name by Benjamin Stevenson. A limited series was previously in development with HBO but ultimately did not makes screens.
The new adaption by Amazon MGM studios will be executively produced by Academy Award nominee David Hemingson, who previously worked on The Holdovers.

Speaking of the new show, Hemingson said: "I’m thrilled to be partnered with Fifth Season and Made Up Stories in bringing Ben’s heartfelt and darkly hilarious whodunit to life.
"And we are so lucky to have Penn as our lead. I can’t think of any actor better suited to bring Ern’s intensity, brilliance and hilariously dry sense of humour to life."
Author Benjamin Stevenson also shared his joy of Badgley's casting, adding: "I am blown away by the vision and enthusiasm everyone has for bringing this book, and Ernest Cunningham, to the screen. Penn perfectly captures Ern’s clueyness and cleverness, and David has brought bags of wit and heart to the script.
"With the passion of Amazon MGM Studios, Bruna and Steve behind us we have an absolutely killer team, and I can’t wait to solve a murder with them!"

Despite getting his start and rising to fame as Dan "lonely boy" Humphrey in Gossip Girl from 2007 to 2012, Badgley has since become synonymous with murderous thrillers, starring as the lead Joe Goldberg in the hit Netflix show You.
More recently, Badgley has acted opposite White Lotus star Meghann Fahy in the upcoming Prime Video rom-com You Deserve Each Other, another book-to-screen adaption.
