Reedus has been cast in the Apple TV action thriller series Disavowed, starring in a currently undisclosed role opposite James Marsden (Avengers: Doomsday).

The series will star Marsden as a legendary CIA case officer, Brad Griffin, who is abruptly fired in the middle of a global hunt for an elusive assassin responsible for killing his colleague.

The synopsis for the series says: "Disgraced and outcast from the world of intelligence, all bets are off when Brad decides to go after the $15 million federal bounty on the assassin’s head."

Disavowed has been created by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Kraven the Hunter), with Michelle MacLaren (The Morning Show) directing the first two episodes and Blue Marble Pictures (Pachinko) producing.

Reedus has played Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead franchise since 2010, first in the original series and then leading his own spin-off, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

Last year, Reedus posted a farewell to the character as the spin-off show finished filming on its upcoming fourth and final season.

"Last filming day today for [Daryl Dixon]," he wrote on X. "It’s been such a joy for me to play this guy with all of u for this long. I feel really blessed. Truly. Thank you all really from my heart."

Meanwhile, earlier this year he shared a string of pictures from set, and wrote: "Daryl Dixon’s final episodes are coming 2027! I can’t quite believe we’re here. Thank you to every single one of you who joined us on this journey – through the good, the brutal and everything in between.

"We’ve gotten a lot of bruises, scars and concussions along the way. A lot of hard work went into this series, especially the crews. This last chapter is gonna hit different and hit hard. I can’t wait for you all to see them. See you in 2027. Missing u all at Comicon."
