The Handmaid's Tale season 6 is in full swing on Hulu in the US, with the finale now fast approaching.

Adapted from Margaret Atwood 1985 novel of the same name, the series charts the horrors of Gilead, a fictional and dystopian version of the United States where fertile women are assigned to bear children for elite couples who aren't able to conceive.

However, over the course of the previous five seasons, the Handmaids have certainly resisted, and this comes to a head in the sixth and final season, which depicts the greatest rebellion against Gilead yet.

Ahead of the final episode, June actor Elisabeth Moss — who also directed the opening and final episodes of season 6 — spoke to IndieWire about leaving the show behind.

“It has not been a part of my life; this show has been my life for the last nine years — more than anyone will ever know," she said.

Meanwhile, speaking about her directing duties, she added: "It’s an incredible honor. Literally, once a day, I would be, like, 'I cannot believe they’re letting me direct the finale of this series.' [Laughing] There’s so many great directors out there, so the fact that I got to do it, I just never got used to it."

The finale might be approaching on Hulu in the US, but the schedule is quite a bit further behind in the UK.

UK fans will have to wait until 5th July for the finale.

That's because season 6 first became available to watch on Channel 4 and Prime Video in the UK from Saturday 3rd May, with new episodes are dropping weekly from then on on Saturdays at 9pm.

If you want to watch the show without the ads on Prime Video, you'll need an Amazon Prime subscription, which will cost you £9.99 per month. You can also sign up for a 30-day free trial if you haven't been an Amazon Prime member in the last 12 months.

Season 5 marked the first time viewers were able to watch the series on Prime Video at the exact same time it aired on Channel 4, following Amazon Prime Video's acquisition of MGM, which is home to The Handmaid’s Tale series.
