It may have been hinted at in trailers, but the first episode of Hit Point featured a huge twist, with Nick Blood's Leo, part of a detective duo with Saffron Hocking's Bella, revealed to be working on the other side of the law.

In fact, Leo was behind the heist the duo are investigating, as he was hoping to steal enough money to provide for his disabled brother's care.

Speaking exclusively with Radio Times about their reaction to the twist when they read it in the script, Hocking said she "really didn't see it coming at all", while Blood said it was "the hook entirely" which made him sign on.

Asked by Hocking whether he saw it coming, Blood said, "No. And it was like a physical reaction to it, which you rarely get when you're reading something. I just went ‘What?!’ and you're going, ‘I'm in.’

"Because you've not only got this really engaging dynamic between Leo and Bella, but then you've got this kind of huge secret that needs to be kept, and this pressure environment, and knowing how smart Bella is, and how on it, that you're going, ‘This is just the worst possible situation to put him in, and you’ve just got to hang on by a thread.’ So you know that the excitement level…"

"It’s gonna be tense throughout," Hocking said, as well as calling it "a sort of cat and mouse thing".

Throughout the first episode, it is also clear that Leo and Bella are attracted to one another, adding an extra wrinkle to the central dynamic and Leo's criminality.

Leo is joined in his illegal exploits by Moe Bar-El's Dylan and Peter Serafinowicz's Carter, and Blood and Hocking spoke with RT about working with the latter.

Blood called Serafinowicz was "so funny", while Hocking added: "I think he's gonna get a restraining order against us because we keep saying, ‘We're obsessed with him, we love Peter so much.’ But we do! He's just incredible, and his character is so cool."
