Ricky Gervais has made no secret of his affection for his sweary feral felines.

The After Life creator has said he would happily keep making Alley Cats, his adult animated comedy for Netflix, for as long as he can, telling The Mirror it is "the first thing I've ever created that I'd like to go on forever".
The question, of course, is whether Netflix agrees.
Season 1 is available to stream now, introducing a ragtag group of British street cats who bicker about life and are pulled into misadventure after they find a lost kitten.
The Alley Cats voice cast reunites several of Gervais's regular collaborators and his fans showed up to support it – but the critical reaction has been mixed to hostile.
With all that in mind, here is what we know about the prospect of a second season.
Will there be an Alley Cats season 2?

Netflix has not officially renewed Alley Cats for a second season just yet, with a final verdict likely to be announced in the coming weeks.
As previous renewals have proven, the streamer considers viewership a more important metric in renewal or cancellation talks than critical reviews, which bodes well for the widely panned animation.
From Gervais's perspective, Alley Cats is a series with potential for long legs indeed, having repeatedly signalled that he would like the series to run indefinitely.
"The cats won't age, and it doesn't matter how fat and old and bald I get," he joked to The Mirror, adding that he could see himself "just making this show till I die".
Why has Alley Cats season 2 not been confirmed?
Netflix typically waits around a month after a title's release to assess viewership and completion rates before making a renewal decision.
With season 1 having only landed in August 2026, the streamer is likely still weighing up those figures.
Who could be in the Alley Cats season 2 cast?

Should the show return, the core voice ensemble from season 1 would be expected back. The cast included:
- Ricky Gervais as Gus
- Tom Basden as Ponce/Rupert
- Andrew Brooke as Fang
- David Earl as Puke
- Diane Morgan as Olive
- Kerry Godliman as Lara
Jo Hartley, Natalie Cassidy and Tony Way also featured in supporting roles. No additional season 2 casting has been confirmed.
What could happen in Alley Cats season 2?
Season 1's central story followed the feral cats as they tried to help a lost kitten find its way home, set against the backdrop of their rough life on the streets of Britain.
A second season would likely continue in the same episodic vein, with the group's crude humour and unexpectedly bittersweet moments driving the comedy.
With no official renewal and no plot details released, anything beyond that is speculation. This page will be updated as more information emerges.
