With Grand Theft Auto 6 looming over the games industry, other developers are having to play release date Jenga as they try to carefully pick out a time slot that doesn’t cause it all to come crashing down, and Lara Croft is the next one to bide her time, meaning Tomb Raider fans are going to have to wait a while longer for Legacy of Atlantis.

As GTA 6 is releasing in November 2026, we’ve not seen or heard a peep of a game launching in the same month, or immediately after it. Instead, we’ve had a spate of recent announcements made that games are going to be coming out in September and October, with the recent PlayStation State of Play adding even more to the mix.
Such is the fear of being swallowed by the Rockstar riptide that some developers are opting to release some way into next year. Crystal Dynamics is the latest to give Jason and Lucia a wide berth, as it was just revealed that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will release 12 February 2027.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagining of the first Tomb Raider from 1996, now shares the same month as Fable, which was recently pushed back to February 2027 in order to avoid going up against GTA 6 and other RPGs such as The Blood of Dawnwalker. If it maintains its current release window, we’ll also see Tomb Raider Catalyst later that year.

It’s a shame, as this October marks the 30th anniversary of Tomb Raider, and releasing Legacy of Atlantis to coincide with it would have been very timely indeed.
There’s still no word on when the upcoming Tomb Raider series from Phoebe Waller-Bridge will release on Prime Video. Sadly, after we saw Sophie Turner don Croft’s iconic look, it was reported that filming was put on hold after the lead actor was injured. The project joins an ever-growing list of game adaptations, such as Fallout and The Last of Us. Who knows what game will be adapted next? Well, Atomfall, apparently!
But with the two projects some ways out still, we can only imagine how Turner and fellow future Lara actor Alix Wilton Regan will make their mark on the series.
They join an already large roster of actors who have held the keys to the Croft manor. Will they, too, lock Winston in the freezer? Only time will tell.
