Baldur's Gate 3 fans, rejoice! Neil Newbon, who was BAFTA-nominated for his performance as Astarion in 2023 hit Baldur's Gate 3, has just been revealed to have a major new gaming role.

Newbon was no stranger to gaming before BG3 (check out his turns in Detroit: Become Human and Resident Evil Village), and he's been busy since then too (see our coverage of Dead Take and Starfinder: Afterlight), but this new role is well worth knowing about.

The British actor was instantly recognisable when he appeared in the PlayStation: State of Play presentation last night (Tuesday 2 June), where the first trailer for Until Dawn 2 was revealed.

Although he was sporting an American accent, there's no denying that was Newbon! Check out the trailer below for yourself.

Until Dawn become a cult classic when it launched way back in 2015 (there was also a remake last year to make the 10-year anniversary), and now fans are finally getting a fully-fledged sequel.

Much like the original Until Dawn, this one has a varied cast of characters that get embroiled in something of a horror film situation. This time, it looks like a slasher scenario on a remote island. Is Newbon one of the goodies or one of the baddies? We couldn't possibly assume, but he would make an excellent villain, right?

Certainly, in the trailer, it looks like Newbon is something of an outsider in the core group, with the other characters seeming to be pre-established friends and him being something of a wildcard. That could be a great position for Newbon to have some fun from.

The official PlayStation Blog notes that: "Until Dawn 2 is a standalone experience, featuring a brand new cast, a whole new world to explore, and true to form, a modern horror experience packed with intrigue, emotion, twists, and the kind of choices that will keep you up at night. Your decisions still shape the story: who falls victim, and who survives Until Dawn…"

The blog post adds: "Our cast this time is a crew of ghost hunters, the faces behind the wildly popular paranormal channel, Dead True.. Only, well… they’ve never actually seen anything supernatural. The scares they are known for are, let’s say, a little staged. But all that changes when for the very first time, they come face-to-face with real horrors and must start living up to their reputation to survive until dawn."

Until Dawn 2 has been developed by a PlayStation-owned studio called Firesprite. Interestingly, this means that the original Until Dawn studio (Supermassive Games) are not the lead developers on the sequel to their own game.

Until Dawn 2 will launch in 2027. We'll be sure to follow this one with great interest, so watch this space for more news as we have it. For more on Newbon, check out our big Arcade Hang interview with him!
