To get as rich as Bruce Wayne in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you need to understand the Stud Multiplier.

This is a mechanic that, well, multiplies the number of studs you receive in-game, and comboing these multiplies is key to filling your bank account.

So, for a full explainer on how the Stud Mulitplier works, what the maximum is and more, here's everything you need to know.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Stud Multiplier explained

As you collect studs in LEGO Batman: LOTDK, your Stud Multiplier will increase. This is shown in the top right of your screen.

If you collect enough of them, your Stud Multiplier will increase to x2, then x3, and the maximum multiplier of x4.

This means every time you pick up one stud, you will actually get double, triple or quadruple the amount.

Furthermore, if you fail to collect any studs for an extended period of time, the Stud Multiplier will begin to decrease, eventually landing back at x1.

Early on in the game, you will only be able to get a maximum multiplier of x2. In order to unlock the x3 and x4 multipliers, you need to purchase the two 'Hyper Combo' skills in the Exploration skill tree.

You can also purchase other skills such as Speedy Stud Combo, which increases the rate at which your Stud Multiplier increases, and Stud Combo Duration, which slows the rate at which it decreases.

Eventually, once you've got all the upgrades unlocked, you'll find that it's pretty easy to get a x4 Stud Multiplier and keep it there, especially if you're playing through a level with a lot of chances to uncover studs.
