While plenty of players were expecting to jump on GTA Online as soon as GTA 6 launches, Rockstar Games has dashed those hopes.

As pre-orders prepare to go live, Rockstar has released a huge amount of new information about the game, including the game's multiplayer support.
In an FAQ section posted to the game's PlayStation Store listing, with regard to GTA 6 launching with multiplayer modes or features, Rockstar has confirmed simply that, "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience".

While GTA Online has become a core part of the GTA 5 experience over the years, it's worth noting that the mode was also not part of the game from launch, arriving several weeks later.
Considering the lack of news about GTA Online in GTA 6, it does seem like we might be waiting a bit longer than a few weeks for the mode to arrive in the game this time around, however.

Though even if we haven't had any news, Rockstar will undoubtedly be working hard on bringing it to the game as soon as possible.
Earlier this year, a leak of Rockstar's finances revealed the scale of GTA Online's popularity, with the mode bringing in an average of $1.3 million every day between September 2025 and April 2026.
As such, it's safe to assume that, while GTA 6 will not be launching alongside GTA Online, Rockstar will want to get that infinite money glitch up and running as soon as humanly possible.
And when it does arrive, one thing that's for certain is that GTA Online is set for a massive upgrade, with a map estimated to be as much as 2.7 times the size of GTA 5's.
T-minus five months and counting to save up for that first Shark Card spending spree.
