Well folks, the time is finally upon us, and we now know exactly what Grand Theft Auto 6 editions will be available to pre-order, but there’s one crucial detail that is sure to rub many the wrong way – especially now that we know the price.

GTA 6 will cost $80 USD for the Standard Edition and $100 for the Ultimate Edition in the USA. Here in the UK, it's £69.99 GBP for the Standard Edition or £89.99 for the Ultimate Edition.
- Order GTA 6 from Amazon now (£69.99 GBP)
We also learned that pre-orders will begin at midnight local time (so 00:00 BST here in the UK) as the clock ticks over to Thursday 25 June.
Rockstar included many details in the press release, ranging from what’s included in each version to literally dozens of new screenshots, but this may not be enough to assuage collectors.

Nestled among the tantalising glimpses and crumbs of perhaps what is the most highly anticipated launch of any piece of media ever, is the gut-punch that GTA 6 will not have a physical disc at launch.
Granted, this had been expected as a means for Rockstar to avoid any pre-launch leaks, but it’s still disappointing for those who want to be there on day one and add GTA 6 to their physical collection, and who may now have to double-dip for the pleasure. More on that in a bit.
While there will be physical boxes available in shops, Rockstar states that these will only have a “download code inside the box”, and will be available from 12 November 2026 to support pre-loading.

It’s still an open question, however, if we will get a physical disc version at all, something every prior GTA game has had.
There may come a time, post-launch, after any potential early bugs have been uncovered, that Rockstar will opt to do a physical release.
However, given how central GTA Online has become to Rockstar’s strategy, it may just be easier for them for the game to be entirely digital and continually receive updates, rather than having to ensure that whatever version included on a disc can still be updated years from release, after oodles of content has come out.
If the GTA 6 file size rumours are to be believed, it is likely that Grand Theft Auto 6 would require at least two discs, an added expense that Rockstar would either have to absorb or pass on to the customer.
Given how expensive things such as fuel and tech have gotten in the past year alone, this is not an appealing option, though the game will still cost $80 for the base game and $100 for the Ultimate Edition as announced by Take-Two, so it’s anybody’s guess, really.

Moreover, this could just be the new reality. More and more games are being purchased digitally, and there are still rumours swirling about whether the PS6 or Xbox Project Helix will have a disc drive at all, or will require an additional add-on drive.
A company such as Rockstar will no doubt have some level of insight into Sony and Microsoft’s plans, and ultimately, the juice might not be worth the squeeze.
People are so desperate to play GTA 6 that they will take it in any shape or form.
