Final Fantasy 7 crossover announced for FF14 alongside FF7 Revelation production update

A new crossover with Final Fantasy 7 has been announced for Final Fantasy XIV at Fan Fest in Berlin.

With Part 3 of the remake trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, set to release next year, the collaboration was confirmed by Yoshi-P during his introductory keynote speech.

The collaboration will take the form of a new 8-Player Raid dubbed "Beyond the Lifestream."

Following the announcement, FF7 director Naoki Hamaguchi took to the stage to discuss the crossover, explaining that, "We thought this was the perfect time to come together as a united front to show what's great about both 7 and 14 in Beyond the Lifestream.

"And of course, both teams are really hard at work on making this happen. I'm really delighted to be able to have this collaboration with the 14 team, so I want to make sure we make something really special together."

Releasing in patch 8.01, Beyond the Lifestream will feature three tiers, with the first tier releasing as part of patch 8.01.

The Raid will also feature three difficulties, with Normal and Savage difficulties, as well as a middle difficulty announced earlier in the show.

The Raid's story is being written by Motomu Toriyama, director of multiple Final Fantasy titles, and the FF14 Scenario Team, with Final Fantasy 7's original writer Kazushige Nojima supervising.

Art design is also set to be supervised by legendary artist Tetsuya Nomura, who is currently serving as creative director on Final Fantast 7 Revelation.

Hamaguchi also provided an update to development on Revelation, explaining that, "The development team is really, really hard at work to make sure the game lives up to your expectations, and comes out on time, so please hold out a little bit longer."

Regarding crossover characters, Hamaguchi noted that following many requests to include certain characters, and discussions about lore and story, though he stopped short of confirming who would be featuring.

In addition to the Raid, a new typing game called 'Keybound Brawler' is set to be added to the FF14 Golden Saucer alongside iconic elements of the FF7 Gold Saucer.

Earlier in the show, it was confirmed that Bastion would be the first of two Jobs added to the game in the upcoming Evercold expansion.

Evercold is scheduled to release in January 2027, while Revelation is set for a Q1/Q2 2027 release.
