Now that Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced has released into the world, it's only natural to wonder whether the original game's multiplayer mode and Freedom Cry expansion made the cut in this new version of the beloved pirate game.

After all, when a remaster comes out, you never know quite what you're going to get in terms of faithfulness to the original, especially when it comes to non-essential extra content that doesn't pertain to the original title's core campaign.

Does AC Black Flag Resynced have multiplayer?

No, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced does not have any multiplayer modes at launch.

The original 2013 game, as players will remember, had a fairly robust multiplayer mode that took place (somewhat surprisingly) on land.

As for the reasons behind the decision to cut this content, the game's official website says: "The team is fully focused on delivering the best possible solo experience."

Does AC Black Flag Resynced have Freedom Cry?

No, AC Black Flag Resynced does not include the Freedom Cry expansion.

Thinking back to the original game, Freedom Cry was released a couple of months after the base game as part of a season pass of DLC content. It focused on Adéwalé as its protagonist, rather than Kenway, and was later re-released as a standalone title.

Resynced creative director Paul Fu told Rock Paper Shotgun, before the launch: "With Resynced, we made a clear choice, it is a pure story-driven adventure and we are fully focused on Edward’s adventures in the Carribean."

Fu added: "As a result of this focus, we have elected to not have the multiplayer and not have the DLC."

As for whether any new content will be added later, we'll just have to wait and see, and we'll be sure to update this page if we hear anything.
