Summary
Jamie Oliver presents recipes that require very few ingredients to make cooking easier, quicker and more affordable, starting with crispy chicken and a simple pie. Plus, José Pizarro shares some gorgeous Mediterranean flavours using just five everyday ingredients

This is where we see the results of Jamie Oliver’s recent research trip around the Mediterranean. While his first recipe of chicken and chips might not sound very Continental, he’s inspired by the Mediterranean flavours of lemon and oregano as well as the rotisseries he saw on many streets. He has a clever hack for that cooking method making what he calls “a chicken leg chandelier”.
Jamie loves to break rules such as not having double carbs in a dish and so demonstrates a comforting potato and pasta dish. “Don’t knock it, until you try it,” he says. Also on offer are lamb koftas, a spinach and feta pie and a no-cook fig tart.
His dishes are all based on five everyday ingredients (plus basics such as salt, pepper and olive oil) so, he maintains, are budget friendly but should take the taste to the next level. He has his critics, but you can’t deny that Jamie’s recipes always look easy yet inviting.
