Every English football fan remembers the goal Ronaldinho scored for Brazil in the 2002 World Cup quarter-final: his intentional – but slightly mis-hit – shot from 40 yards out looped over keeper David Seaman and sent England home. There is much more than that to talk about, however, in a series profiling a player whose talent was extraordinary, even by his nation’s standards, and who won all there was to win in the game when playing for the club giants of Europe.

His journey starts back in Brazil, where a young prodigy doesn’t know if he’ll be able to make the most of his evident sporting gifts.
