Summary

Superheroes torn from the pages of Marvel Comics come together in the aftermath of tragedy in a continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series, which completed its run in 1997. Following the loss of their leader, Professor Charles Xavier (voiced by Ross Marquand), the X-Men face new challenges that could tear them apart. The weight of responsibility rests on the shoulders of Beast (George Buza), Cyclops (Ray Chase), Gambit (AJ LoCascio), Jean Grey (Jennifer Hale), Jubilee (Holly Chou), Rogue (Lenore Zann), Storm (Alison Sealy-Smith) and Wolverine (Cal Dodd). As anti-mutant sentiment grows, Xavier's sworn enemy Magneto (Matthew Waterson) fills the void to usher in a dangerous new era

Review

Jack Seale

Three years before the first of the modern X-Men movies was released, fans of the comic said goodbye to beloved cartoon show X-Men: the Animated Series. That project has been revived, picking up right after the original’s tearful ending and following the X-Men as they continue their work without their late mentor, Professor X.

The visuals have become a lot sharper since 1997, but the reboot hasn’t been tempted to fill the cast with jobbing Hollywood stars: many of the voice artists from back then return to reprise their roles.
