Summary

Jobbing actors Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery hope to land roles in a remake of the superhero film Wonder Man and one of the men acquires otherworldly powers for real

Review

Huw Fullerton

Simon Williams is a great actor, but not an easy one. If he has a tiny bit part in a horror series, he wants to talk about his character motivations. If his background role carries a book, he’s read it. Also? He’s got superpowers that if discovered would have him banned from every studio in Hollywood.

It’s a slightly different take on the superhero world from multiplex mainstays Marvel, but a welcome one. In the original comics, Wonder Man/Simon Williams was a hero-turned-actor, but this version is only auditioning for a role in a superhero remake, aided by veteran thesp Trevor Slattery (Sir Ben Kingsley) — who has previously been seen in other Marvel films.

Full of industry gags and creative stories, this eight-episode foray into Marvel’s version of Hollywood is worth the price of admission.
