Summary

Protecting the ones you love requires sizeable sacrifices in a six-part sci-fi thriller written and directed by Rapman. Five ordinary strangers including Michael Lasaki (Tosin Cole) are dumbfounded when they unexpectedly develop superpowers. The only obvious connection between them is they are all black and hail from South London. As they grapple with newfound abilities, strangers become allies in a battle between good and evil and Michael risks everything for the woman he loves. Former YouTube creator Rapman, aka Andrew Onwubolu, is the writer/director behind a drama that gives a gangland saga a superheroic twist. At first we meet several unrelated people in south London, although their lives are interlinked and all are affected, to varying degrees, by gang violence. When a select few prove to have unearthly powers — time travel, strength, invisibility etc — it turns out not to be a solution to the dangers and frustrations of the modern everyday. It’s a smart crossover.

Former Doctor Who companion Tosin Cole and The Responder’s Adelayo Adeday are among the ensemble cast.
