Summary

Actor turned director Fisher Stevens, who won an Academy Award for the 2010 documentary feature The Cove, is well acquainted with the power of the celebrity. In this four-part series, Stevens is granted unprecedented access to David Beckham, his wife Victoria, family, friends and team-mates to paint an intimate and vivid portrait of the 48-year-old former professional sportsman, who is now an owner of the Inter Miami football team. Tracing Beckham's ascent from humble working-class beginnings in east London, each episode peels back the glittering facade of popular culture to lay bare the bruising tug of war between a career on the pitch and family responsibilities behind closed doors. Contributors include Sir Alex Ferguson, Roy Keane, Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville.
