Review

Jack Seale

The Reacher universe is expanding in the form of spin-off Neagley, which gives former regular Maria Sten her own show – but the original thriller itself is still in fine form as its fourth season begins.

Oak tree in jeans Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) witnesses something awful on the Philadelphia subway and, when what seems like an upsetting – but not too remarkable – case proves to be of interest to the very highest levels of law enforcement, the former military policeman investigates, driven by guilt and by his unswerving dedication to righting wrongs.

As per the regular Reacher format, by the end of the first three episodes he has amassed a small posse of loners and oddballs, united by their curiosity and resourcefulness. Reacher himself, meanwhile, continues to defeat an endless stream of bad guys with his two unstoppable weapons: his ability to win any hand-to-hand combat, no matter the odds against him; and his bone-dry, deadpan wit. Reacher never lets you down.
