Ripley meets The White Lotus as a new psychological thriller whisks us to a luxury Greek villa, where two families are holidaying under the toxic auspices of abrasive entrepreneur Jamie Tanner. Along for the ride is Adam, a young man who is a tutor to one family’s teenage daughter. He’s great with the kids and a hit with the mums, but whenever he’s alone, there is a chilling emptiness behind his eyes.
Much depends on whether you think Whitehall has the menacing aura required to justify a surprising piece of casting, but even if you do, the plotting lacks finesse and the lack of sympathetic characters is a challenge.
