Episode 48: France v Morocco

Summary

France v Morocco (Kick-off 9.00pm). Coverage of the first quarter-final, which takes place at Boston Stadium in the USA, and is a repeat of the 2022 semi-final. Morocco made it through thanks to a 3-0 victory against co-hosts Canada on Saturday, upping their game in the second half after a goalless first period, and proving that their progression at the World Cup in Qatar was no fluke. They do, however, have to find a way past the tournament favourites, who were relieved to edge past Paraguay in the last round, in a match in which the South Americans tested every ounce of patience that Les Bleus possessed, with just a Kylian Mbappe goal separating the sides

The World Cup 2026 quarter-finals kick off as France face Morocco in Boston. Didier Deschamps’s side have lived up to their favourites tag so far but had to dig deep for a narrow victory over a fiery Paraguay team in the round of 16.

The Atlas Lions, who beat Canada in the last round, are the only African side remaining at the World Cup and will need to spring an upset to reach the semi-finals for the second consecutive tournament.
