Paddy: The Ride of My Life

Summary

Cameras follow Paddy McGuinness on a 300-mile ultra endurance cycle challenge for Children in Need, as well as covering his training under the expert guidance of Chris Hoy. The route takes Paddy from Wrexham through Flintshire, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria, Dumfriesshire and to the finish in Glasgow, facing whatever weather November throws at him

Vernon Kay ran an ultramarathon, Sophie Ellis-Bextor danced for a day and Joe Wicks held a 24-hour PE class: the history of absurd endurance challenges for Children in Need is long and storied, and this documentary follows the latest to join the roster. Paddy McGuinness will be cycling 300 miles on a Raleigh Chopper from Wrexham to Glasgow in the potentially inclement November weather, with Pudsey and co funding causes close to his heart — “no likey, no bikey” is not an option here. We will watch his progress as well as his exertions in the gruelling training that got him to the start line; much of the latter came under the watchful eye of Sir Chris Hoy, a man whose contribution is arguably just as remarkable given the well-publicised personal challenges he currently faces
