This smart, compelling drama is inspired by the real events of the 1983 Brink’s-Mat robbery, when six criminals burst into a security depot expecting to find £1 million of foreign currency and instead stumbled across gold worth £26 million. The scale was staggering. Following the flurry of the theft, weary DCI Brian Boyce (Hugh Bonneville) is drafted in to set up a task force, including no-nonsense officers Nicki Jennings (Charlotte Spencer) and Tony Brightwell (Emun Elliott). They must put the pieces together faster than the perpetrators can shift the bullion, but it’s not just the known south London criminals they need to contend with. There are also the likes of seemingly respectable solicitor Edwyn Cooper (a pleasingly smooth and smarmy Dominic Cooper), who may well have his fingers in some very unsavoury pies…
