Summary

The beleaguered owner of a haunted hotel turns to the spooky residents for help to turn the business around in an animated comedy series created by Matt Roller, one of the writers of Rick And Morty. A single mother of two (voiced by Eliza Coupe) inherits the Undervale, which struggles to attract guests because of a widespread infestations of ghouls and ghosts that chase away any human interlopers. Among this spectral throng is the mother's deceased estranged brother (Will Forte), who believes his fellow phantoms have some great ideas to turn around the hotel's fortunes. The voice cast also includes Skyler Gisondo, Natalie Palamides and Jimmi Simpson

It’s one to dip in and out of rather than watch religiously – or maybe to have on in the background while you do something else – but there’s larks to be had in this adult animated comedy, especially for horror fans.

Set in a hotel beset by undead spirits – one of whom is the manager, who shares his duties with his (living) sister, her (mortal) kids, and a boy from the 18th century with a demon trapped inside him – it offers basic sitcom plotting, enhanced by a love of the horror genre that regularly causes it to diverge into spoofs of well-known movies and TV shows.
