The first time we see Rachel Walsh (Caroline Menton), she’s drunkenly cavorting around a Dublin bar, knocking back shots and snorting coke in the loos. She initially seems to be the most chaotic sister in Marian Keyes’s frothy novels about a dysfunctional (but fun and rather likeable) Irish family.

However, all the Walshes have messy lives: they bicker, sulk, resent, argue and tease before making up with hugs, drinking and partying. Claire (Danielle Galligan) is getting divorced; Anna (Louisa Harland) can’t find the right moment to announce she’s engaged; Maggie (Stefanie Preissner) is yearning to have a baby; and Helen (Máiréad Tyers), the youngest, quietly watches from the sidelines.

You’ll want to spend more time with them — albeit from a safe distance.
