Live Uefa Euro 2024: Germany v Scotland
Summary
Germany v Scotland (Kick-off 8.00pm). Mark Pougatch presents coverage of the Group A match from Munich Football Arena, as hosts Germany kick off the tournament against Steve Clarke's side. Julian Nagelsmann's team go into the tournament having qualified automatically, and are one of the favourites to win the competition. They are looking to win their first major trophy since the World Cup in 2014, and their first European Championship victory since 1996. Scotland qualified for their second consecutive Euros after finishing below Spain, but comfortably ahead of the likes of Norway and Georgia. In their last appearance in the finals three years ago, they finished bottom of their group behind rivals England, Croatia and Czech Republic, and they haven't won a game at this tournament since a 1-0 victory against Switzerland back in the group stages of the 1996 competition. With analysis from Graeme Souness, Roy Keane, Ian Wright and Laura Woods, reports by Connie McLaughlin, and commentary from Sam Matterface and Ally McCoist

After acres of selection speculation, the real thing is finally upon us. The Euro 2024 tournament kicks off at Munich’s spiffy Allianz Arena with hosts Germany facing Steve Clarke’s Scotland. Can the visitors pull off something of a shock and beat one of the favourites? It’ll be a tall order, but having only lost one match in qualification
(thanks in no small part to seven goals from Manchester United’s Scott McTominay), the Tartan Army aren’t going to be short on confidence.
The group stage features 24 teams and will see a total of 51 matches, spread across ten German cities. Will England, who play their first match on Sunday 16J une, be able to reach a second successive Euro final, to be played at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on 14 July? The bookies currently have them installed as favourites, but hosts Germany as well as 2022 World Cup runners-up France might have something to say about that — not forgetting the likes of Portugal, Spain and defending Euro champions Italy.
