Review

Calum Baker

Last Thursday, Martin Scorsese introduced a pair of films by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. This week, Scorsese’s longtime editor, Thelma Schoonmaker, who was married to Powell for the last six years of his life, speaks to John Wilson about her career and her own affinity for the men behind A Matter of Life and Death (which follows at 8:30pm) and The Red Shoes (10:10pm).

Capping things off at 12:20am is a 1973 episode of Parkinson that features legendary dancer Sir Robert Helpmann, who appears in The Red Shoes and choreographed its stunning 17-minute ballet sequence. Few movie scenes are quite so beautiful.
