Review

Sarah Carson

That withering British cynic in you so desperately wants to dismiss this drama as you roll your eyes at the “family values” (ugh) and “togetherness” (heaven forefend!). But despite all that sentiment, and sincerity, one must concede that This Is Us is good.

It’s intelligently scripted, the characters – if not always likeable – have a compelling pull to them, and the time shifts that offer an insight into the family’s future are a clever and original method of seduction.
