Review
John Aizlewood
He may be known predominantly for comedy and solving murders in buildings, but Steve Martin is also a performer of bluegrass music, often with long-established North Carolinian band Steep Canyon Rangers and lyricist/singer Edie Brickell, aka Mrs Paul Simon. In 2013, they all played together for the first time at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside, California, with Martin on banjo and Brickell singing. It’s a celebration of the music Martin adores, but sounds authentic rather than self-indulgent. In case there was any danger of things getting too reverential, Martin doesn’t forget he’s a comedian.
