Review

Jack Seale

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II perhaps isn’t as heralded an actor as he should be, because most of his best work in film and TV up to now has been in comic-book adaptations such as Watchmen, Aquaman and Wonder Man. He’s likely to win a lot more fans here in a series that tries to bring a more human element to the characters in an explosive espionage thriller.

Once an elite special forces officer but now a sad loner struck by PTSD, John Creasy (Abdul-Mateen) is offered a new start by a friend in Rio de Janeiro who is trying to bring down a fearsome criminal network. When that goes awry in the worst possible way, Creasy is back in business, fuelled by vengeance. At the centre of the maelstrom, Abdul-Mateen is magnetic.
