Summary

Jaws meets Widow’s Bay in this addictive thriller, in which fisherman Calvin (Josh Hartnett) sees his way of life threatened just as a mysterious sea creature starts terrorising his town.
What elevates this above a bog-standard monster saga is Charlie Heaton as Calvin’s son Wade. Fresh from playing Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things, he’s confident, loud and wonderfully odd – frequently stealing scenes from the threat in the depths.
But the real star is the location: Snook’s Arm in Newfoundland, whose distinctive Irish heritage gives the drama a grounded sense of place. And squeamish viewers may want to stay on terra firma when the creature strikes, as the gore often comes flooding in.
