Review

Jack Seale

A crime drama with a great dystopian (or perhaps utopian) hook. In an alternate Britain, draconian measures have been taken to curb male violence: all men are electronically tagged and not allowed out at night. So when the battered body of a woman appears in a car park overnight, the killer is surely female. Or are they?

A maverick detective (Sarah Parish, displaying a damaged swagger that recalls her role in Bancroft) refuses to believe the killer isn’t a man. The set-up is irresistible and the script makes some strong political points, even if there’s a pretty bog-standard whodunnit underneath.
