Review

Michael Fassbender brings a still, sinewy menace to this espionage thriller that’s based on the French drama The Bureau. It posits that going undercover to complete CIA field work is so taxing, it inevitably robs agents of their sanity. Fassbender is “Martian”, who is called back to base after a long period spent doing all kinds of dark deeds under an assumed name. When the woman who has got closest to him (Jodie Turner-Smith) reappears, his identity crisis becomes acute and his handlers (Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere, no less) wonder if they’re in a situation they can’t control.
