Episode 1: Where the Hell is Brent?
Summary
When Santa Claus is poached by a rival, elf Candy Smalls sets out to become the first female St Nicholas in history. Animated comedy, with the voices of Sarah Silverman, Seth Rogen and Nicholas Braun
Review
Ceri Thomas
Yes, this is a stop-motion animated Christmas tale, but don’t be fooled into thinking it’s one for the kids. F-bombs are dropped like candy canes in a show wrapped up in jokes that merrily push the boundaries of taste. (“Good news Sir, more American kids believe in you than they do in vaccines or the Holocaust”, Santa is told at one point.)
Stand-up Sarah Silverman voices Candy, an elf who wants to take over as Santa, but can she persuade the middle-aged white males who run the North Pole to give her a shot?
Rude and raunchy, it’s a festive extravaganza broadcast nightly until Thursday. As Seth Rogen’s Santa puts it: “Merry Christmas and to all a kickass night!”
